This scheme has been almost launched across the nation. But this scheme is being implemented fastest in Uttar Pradesh. In Uttar Pradesh, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has been got a big boost as it is providing benefits to the needy and eligible people of the state rapidly.
Progress and Achievements
Recently, the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Aditynath Yogi has started ‘Housing Scheme for everyone (Sabhi Ke Liye Awas Yojana)’ in the state. This scheme has been launched for the people having BPL (Below Poverty Line) card. Under this scheme, the poor homeless people of the state will be provided an affordable housing unit. Uttar Pradesh has become the first state in the country to provide housing for the poor within eight months under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana while the Central Government takes about 1 year for it.
Besides this, a proposal for the construction of about 1 lakh affordable housing units for the urban poor of the state has also been approved by the Council of Ministers under the Chairmanship of cm Yogi Adityanath. For these houses which will be constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), the state government will take a loan of Rs 1,000 crore from HUDCO (Housing & Urban Development Corporation). Under this proposal, the 60% of the cost of houses being built under the PMAY would be borne by the central government and 40% would be borne by the state government.
Apart from this, about 9984 poor homeless people of the Sonabhadra district will be provided a pucca (concrete) housing unit under PMAY. For this, the eligible people are being identified for housing, whose house is either raw or crumbling. So far about 32 hundred people have been selected in eight blocks. The money will be sent directly to the beneficiaries’ account for the construction of the housing units. After being instructed by the DM, the process of selection of beneficiaries has been started by organizing an open meeting in villages under the supervision of BDO in Rabrasranganj, Ghorwal, Dudhi, Chotra, Nawanwah, Mypur, Chopan and Bahubani block.
The Uttar Pradesh Government is also planning the construction of about 10 lakh affordable housing units in rural areas under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G) and 2 lakh houses in urban areas under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U). The aim of the central government’s flagship housing scheme is to provide shelter for homeless people across the nation.
