A Hearing Aid is Helpful and a Literal Life-Saver

A hearing aid is a wonderful device that has been around since the 1800s during the Industrial Revolution. It is extremely beneficial for those with minimal or even major hearing issues. Because the 19th Century allowed for mass production, more people were able to purchase them. George P. Pilling and Sons of Philadelphia was one of the first companies to produce their own version of the device. In their earlier years, they were much different than the small and sometimes seemingly invisible ones that are sold today. Instead, they were large, horn-shaped trumpets that included a big opening on the end, which was responsible for collecting sound. It also included a thin tube-shaped object that allowed the sound to be transferred to the ear. Along with being much larger, during their former years, these devices were also hand-held. It could also be described as a miniature musical trumpet. Nowadays, it would be odd to see someone walking around with such an object. Although the hearing aid has made many transitions and transformations throughout the years, it still continues to be a great help to those in need. For example, it allows people to hear better when they are around their friends and family members. Imagine being at a party with friends or at a family gathering and everyone's talking and laughing and you aren't able to make out anything they are saying. You could even be at work and someone is giving extremely important information that you aren't really able to decipher. You would either miss out on the information or the speakers would be forced to repeat themselves several times. A hearing aid can also provide safety. If someone decided to walk on the train tracks and a train suddenly started approaching, if they had ear trouble, there's a good chance they would not be able to hear the train driver blowing the horn. This could end up being a very tragic situation that could result in a fatality. Someone with hearing issues could also have or even cause problems when they are driving on the road. For example, if a police officer or ambulance were near them, they may be able to see the flashing lights if they are paying attention, but they wouldn't really be able to hear the sirens. This could prevent or delay an ambulance from getting to someone who is in need of medical assistance or it could delay a police officer from handling a violent or harmful crime spree. All of the aforementioned scenarios could be prevented with the help of a hearing aid. Even through its many phases and changes, this device has been help as well as a literal lifesaver for many people.
