A Tummy Tuck For Every StomachA tummy tuck is a great way to get the tighter, flatter midsection you’ve always wanted, but the same approach to the procedure isn’t right for everyone. The tummy tuck, officially known as an abdominoplasty, is one of the most popular and widely-sought forms of cosmetic surgery in the world. Not all of them are the same, however, and because different patients have different needs, there are a number of different approaches to tightening the abdominal region. The goal of an abdominoplasty is to remove fat and excess skin from the stomach and then tighten the abdominal muscles to make the patient’s belly tighter and flatter. It is most typically sought by women looking to regain their figure after pregnancy or by individuals who have lost a considerable amount of weight and are looking to remove sagging, excess skin. In a complete abdominoplasty, a cut is created from one hip bone to another near the waist line and another is made somewhere on your belly to separate it from the surrounding tissue. The skin is then folded back to reveal the muscle structure underneath. These muscles are tightened using sutures and excess tissue is then removed before what remains is stretched back into place. A new hole is cut for the belly button and the incisions are then closed. In a partial tummy tuck, the same procedures are followed on a more limited basis. A smaller incision is typically made and smaller amounts of tissue and fat are removed. In some cases the abdominal muscles are tightened as well, but not always. In an extended abdominoplasty, a complete version of the procedure is performed along with a lateral thigh lift as well. The incision in this case is lower across the hips and the surgery is also able to contour the waist area and upper thighs as well. A high lateral tension tummy tuck is more rare and involved, often taking five hours to complete. In a typical surgery, the muscles of the abdomen are tightened vertically, but in this procedure they are tightened horizontally as well. The result is an even flatter and more toned midsection. A circumferential abdominoplasty, also known as a body lift or a belt lipectomy, is an extended version as well as a buttock lift. The incision runs all the way around the body and tightens the back side as well as the stomach. This is most often sought by people who have lost significant amounts of weight. With all the different variations on this common procedure ![]() A tummy tuck can be effective for anyone who has a real need to tighten their abdominal region. The many different variations make this possible by producing results that range from small-scale to much larger and can truly personalize the experience.
