These aromatic oils, also known as essential oils, primarily come from botanical properties. Aromatherapy is body and skin care treatments use essential oils to make you feel calm, relaxed, or energized. Aromatherapy oils work with your sense of smell; you can inhale them, bathe in them or be massaged in them. Thus, aromatherapy is used in conjunction with traditional medicine. This form of therapy may vary greatly from country to country. One way that it is used in the United States is with dentistry. The scent of lavender used in waiting rooms has been shown to help reduce stress prior to dental treatments. It has also been used to treat infectious diseases and known to be effective in pain management.

When you first visit in aromatherapy massage, you might more than likely obtain a questionnaire concerning you and any medical troubles. Some essential oils can cause allergic reactions. Test a small amount of the product on the inside of the wrist or elbow before taking a bath with the oils.
