If you have asthma,Asthma Home Remedies Can Help in Certain Situations Articles do not use asthma home remedies as a regular treatment. That being stated, there are some interesting methods you can use to help during asthma attacks, and the tools or ingredients are usually right in your home. This is not medical advice. It is just information that you can use at your will.

Asthma Is Aggravated by Allergies

Allergens can induce inflammation of the airways to your lungs and trigger an asthma attack. Antihistamines can stop allergic reactions. One of the most common antihistamines is called diphenhydramine (Benadryl), and most people have it at home. If you are having an asthma attack, this is one of the asthma home remedies that you can use. Take as directed on the package, and it may relieve the symptoms. Ask your doctor if this is something you can use for your asthma before you keep it around for this purpose because sometimes it can make asthma worse.

A Straw Can Be a Lifesaver

That’s right – a straw, you read it right. Here is another of the asthma home remedies using a straw: Get a straw and inhale deeply, and then purse your lips around the straw and blow out through it as hard as you can until all of the air is out of your lungs or you start coughing. Repeat this over and over again until you notice that you are able to exhale more easily. This is actually a method used by EMTs when there is nothing else around to relieve the asthma attack on the way to the hospital and epinephrine fails. It certainly will not harm you.

Hot Peppers to the Rescue

Another of the interesting asthma home remedies is any hot pepper or hot pepper sauce. You can use cayenne, jalapenos, and habaneras. Cayenne is the one you would most likely have around in a powder form. Simply eat a small amount of any of these and swallow. It may be uncomfortable, but it will start to expel mucus out of your lungs and is likely to open up the airways to your lungs. It is actually quite amazing.

Any of these home remedies can help, but they should not be used as primary treatment. Proper medical care is required to control asthma.
