Just as much as you love your baby,Baby Skin Care- What You Need To Know! Articles their skin needs to be cared for. Your baby’s soft and supple skin requires special nourishment and careful protection. Here are some tips that help you to protect your baby from external factors…

Baby skin/ Adult Skin
As obvious, babies’ skin is far more delicate than adults. Then why would you use your skin care products on them?

Babies’ skin is thin and fragile and can’t retain moisture. That’s why newborns have very dry flaky skin. Since they don’t spend much time outdoors, their skin is thinner and translucent. Moreover, babies have less melanin in their skin as compared to adults which makes them more prone to irritation and sunburn. Also, they can’t sweat and this leads to rashes.

Here are some common baby skin problems:
Diaper rash – When dirty diapers rub against the skin, they cause rashes. Therefore, always check the diaper if it’s soaked and change it frequently. There are many barrier creams available in the market to help heal the rashes.

Irritation – Its one of the commonest skin problems in babies. It can be caused by just about anything like woolen fabrics, pet hair, laundry detergents etc. Therefore steer clear of any artificial chemicals you use. Be it perfumes or woolen clothes, make sure they are not in direct contact with the baby’s skin.

To avoid all these problems or even to heal them, you need to follow an effective baby skin care regimen. Here is how you can go about it:

Cleansing
Since the baby cannot have bath until the umbilical cord falls off, you need to give them sponge baths regularly. Always remember to clean the chord with a cotton ball. There are baby skin care products available like cleansing waters which are free of alcohol and soap that you can use to clean the baby’s body.

Use mild cleansers, soaps and shampoos that are specially formulated for babies. All the baby skin care products that you use should be free of fragrance inducing chemicals.

Moisturizer
The use of moisturizers is a debatable issue. Though some researchers believe that no moisturizers should be used on babies’ skin, there are many who believe that a mild moisturizer is good to use after a bath. Read more about it to make your own determination.
