When asked about tiredness,Being Always Tired – Overview of Tiredness Articles what do you know? You may say that you are feeling tired but do you really know what fatigue is? In this article, we are going to talk about tiredness in detail and give some overview about the topic.
People often mistake fatigue into something else. The most common among these things is weakness. You should be aware that these two terms are different from each other. They may seem very closely related but that does not imply that they are the same. To know the difference, let us define the two words.
Weakness is the lack of physical strength. When a person feels weak, it is too difficult to perform physical activities such as running, walking, carrying objects and other activities that require the use of the muscles. This often leads to muscle pain when the person works his or her body to the limit.
Fatigue, on the other hand, is the feeling of being exhausted. When people experience fatigue, they lack the energy needed to perform any task and they feel the need to hit the bed and rest. Like weakness, it can also be caused by overworking the body but the cause does not stop there. Fatigue is on a higher level and it can be caused by sleep disorders and other health problems. Even stress can cause a person to feel fatigued.
Weakness and fatigue are similar to each other because of the fact that they are both symptoms of more complicated health conditions. Because they act as symptoms, people should not ignore them completely. Rather, they should be diagnosed immediately in order to quickly resolve the lack of energy issue.
Here are some conditions that include fatigue and weakness as general symptoms.
Thyroid Problem. Problems with the thyroid gland can leave the body feeling tired and weak. This is because the thyroid gland is responsible for regulating the energy in the body. It releases important hormones that can help the body feel energized when someone is stressed or too tired. Hypothyroidism or the underactive thyroid does not only causes tiredness and weakness but also weight gain and memory problems. Hyperthyroidism or the hyperactive thyroid, on the other hand, also causes fatigue and weakness as well as heart problems, breathing problems, weight loss and depression.
Mineral Deficiency. It is also important to be aware of the minerals that the body needs to function well. For instance, the body becomes weak and lacks energy if there is not enough potassium in the body. This is the reason why bananas are good for runners. Sodium and electrolytes found in energy drinks and sports drinks are also important in making the body feel energized.
If the tiredness you are feeling lasts for a loner time, then that indicates that you need the help of a doctor. Fatigue is usually temporary therefore if it lasts for more than 2 weeks, then that is not normal anymore. You have to contact your physician immediately and have a complete physical check-up in order for your condition to be diagnosed properly.
