Bottled Water Vs Filtered Tap water

It’s unbelievable. When it comes to bottled water vs. tap water, so many people just assume that bottled water is the way to go and is better than tap water. But is it really true? What advantages do you get from the bottled version of water? Let’s find out.

That tap water is loaded with dangerous contaminants, this much is well established. Chlorine, pesticides, prescription drugs, heavy metals, microbes – any and all kinds of impurities can be found in this water and is obviously very harmful to our health.

This is the thing that the water companies try to take advantage of. According to a recent study, 40% of bottled water is actually tap water itself.

How is this possible? Well, there is no government regulation that mandates these companies to purify their water before bottling it. Just think about how much money these companies save by bottling tap water, slapping on a nice, shiny packaging and then selling at huge markups.

Why would they want to bear the extra cost of filtering the water?

Not to forget, these bottles have an environmental impact too. The plastic these bottles use doesn’t degrade naturally and adds to the huge amount of in-disposable waste that piles up in our landfills.

Another problem you need to be aware of – if the plastic used in manufacturing the plastic bottle is of an inferior quality, some chemicals from the bottle will seep into the water slowly. These chemicals are very dangerous and can even lead to cancer in the long run.

In short, you are getting the same contaminated water, at much higher prices, with an added health risk and adding to the pollution problem at the same time.

Why would you want to do that?

In the battle of bottled water vs. tap, both the sides are losers – nobody wins.

A way better option is to use a water purifier in your home. It’s a one time investment, but will save you from the recurring costs of buying water bottles every week.

Water filters in today’s life style are very necessary and cost effective too. There are so many different technologies to choose from. There’s multi-media filtration, distillation, reverse osmosis, and UV disinfection systems, and the water will be really pure too. These filters can remove up to 99% of the impurities in the water and are much better than bottled or tap water.

Make no mistake about it. Bottled water vs. tap water – neither is good for you. InsteadHealth Fitness Articles, use a good whole house water filter and get pure water in a cost effective manner.
