If you are considering breast augmentation,Breast Augmentation and Pregnancy - What is the Connection? Articles it is considered best to wait until you are done having babies. However, that is not always possible or prudent. For example, a model or actress may need larger breasts to help her in her career, yet she may not be interested in having babies until she is a bit older and past the prime of her industry. Should she postpone surgery? No, because this particular surgery does not have much of an impact on pregnancy.

First, having implants has no impact on pregnancy. You can get pregnant with the same amount of ease as you did before surgery. Your breasts do not have a direct role on how easy or not easy it is for you to get pregnant.

Similarly, if you do succeed in getting pregnant, being pregnant does not interfere with implants. There are always risks such as deflation and hardening, and the fact that your breasts change in size during and after pregnancy could slightly increase this risk, but it really is minimal and is a risk whether or not you get pregnant.

Breastfeeding is another concern women might have when considering breast augmentation. The good news is that most women who have the procedure can go on to breastfeed successfully. The incisions should not prevent breastfeeding, and if you have your implants placed under the muscle, there is added protection between the implants and the milk ducts. It is possible for the surgery to inhibit or prevent breastfeeding, but this is a rare complication.

Believe it or not, there are some positives to having breast augmentation prior to surgery. Breasts that have implants are less likely to sag and droop after the changes of pregnancy. They may change, but the implants will help them stay pert and perky. Sometimes women decide to have repeat surgery after they are done having and breastfeeding their babies, but many find they are happy with the way their breasts held their shape.

The potential downsides to this procedure are two-fold. First, you may find that you wish to have the procedure redone when you see how your breasts change after pregnancy, particularly if you have several babies. There is also the risk that your ducts could be damaged, which would interfere with breastfeeding. But these risks are minimal and rarely occur, so you do not have to stress about them if you are determined to have the procedure.

Remember, it is absolutely possible to have a healthy pregnancy and breastfeeding relationship if you opt to have breast augmentation. However, to ensure you have the best chances of being able to breastfeed and have good results from your surgery, you need to find a highly skilled plastic surgeon. Taking the time now to do your research and find the right doctor will help ensure there are few complications and excellent results when you are done with the procedure. And, by having the procedure now, you can enjoy your curves while you are still young!
