Breast Augmentation - Choosing the Right Implant

Surgical breast augmentation is one of the most commonly used as also the most efficacious bust enhancement approaches. Augmentation in conjunction with related techniques such as breast lifts can create a lasting impact that can significantly boost one’s physical appeal and esteem.

Breast augmentation refers to surgical or non-surgical enhancement of bust size and typically also covers complementary techniques including bust shaping and lifts. Surgical enhancement is not only the most widely employed technique but is also the most effective approach to enhancing breast size and contour.

Choosing the Right Implant
Depending on the final bust size and shape desired, the type of implant to be employed may vary. Typically implants are composed of sacs filled with saline or silicone gel that are surgically inserted either under or over the muscular layer of the bust. Until late 2006, silicone implants were not approved by the FDA, which meant that saline was the chosen filling for cosmetic breast augmentation surgery. Saline implants are constructed using a silicone elastomer shell into which a saltwater brine solution is filled via a valve in the implant sac. The implants are usually filled during the time of surgery, although pre-filled saline implants were briefly available in the market although these are currently not used.

Silicone implants are the preferred implant type, ever since the FDA approved commercial usage of silicone. In general, the outer sacs are designed as a 3-layer shell into which the silicone gel is pre-filled prior to its insertion during surgery. The most significant benefit of silicone implants are their shape retention and pliable structure which lends a natural feel to the bust even after surgical enhancement. Aside from the actual composition of the implant filling, the actual implant surface may also vary depending on individual needs. The typical implant shape is rounded or anatomical, and in addition the surface may be smooth or textured.

While most women prefer smoother implant surfaces, textured sacs are an attempt to avert capsular contracture, which often causes the scar tissue formed post-surgery to become dense around the implant resulting in a painful hardening of the bust surface. On the downside, textured implants may create an unusual rippling on the breast surface, and the thick outer shell often lends a firmer and rigid appearance to the bust. It is therefore important to consult a competent plastic surgeon who specializes in bust enhancement for a thorough examination and discussion on the right implant type and placement.

Financing your Breast Augmentation
While studying the right implantation approach can help get the desired outcome post-surgery, it is equally important to understand how the surgery itself will be paid for. As most other cosmetic procedures, bust enhancement can be expensive, but this does not have to deter you from undergoing the procedure. Cash is obviously the best way to pay for any medical procedure, but not everybody has access to ready cash flow. This makes medical loans a good alternative. Before opting for any loans, be sure to assess your credit score as well as your repayment options to minimize approval times.

From plastic surgery loans to credit cardsArticle Submission, there are several ways to pay for breast augmentation surgery. Planning your finances right can help ensure a smooth course and make you feel great about the new improved you without having to face any monetary burden down the road.
