Many people believe that breast augmentation is solely for women but this is not true. Men also have the capacity to be given implants, with the right conditions. Factors have to be right for the doctor to do the operation for a man.

Women need to present themselves as ideal candidates for the procedure to get the doctor to do it but men on the other hand are basically not ideal at all. So, what factors will prompt the surgeon to allow the operation to commence? In this day and age, there are a lot of men who go through a series of operations to have their gender changed.

Homosexuality does not necessarily mean that it is a factor that will tip the scales for a man to be allowed to have the implants but it is their state of mind that the doctors actually base it on. Breast augmentation can be done to gay individuals who have had a sex change or are contemplating having one done to them. They still have to undergo the basic testing for underlying diseases that can affect the surgery but if all goes well then there is not much that the doctor can do. Basic testing means checking the blood, urine and the physical state of the man to see how ideal he is as a candidate for the operation.

Another factor that can appositively affect the doctor’s perspective regarding performing this operation on a male individual is the purpose of having it done. Everybody has different objectives and purposes in wanting to do anything. Some individuals can actually convince a doctor to perform the breast augmentation operation on them by citing their reasons well. Even males who are straight and not gay can have the procedure done to them if they can sincerely convince the doctor to do so. One such case is that of a man who made a bet with his buddies regarding whether or not he can have it done and keep the implants for several months.

Yet another factor for being an ideal candidate for the augmenting operation is the physical state of the individual. There has to be enough skin on the chest area to accommodate the implant on both sides for the doctor to actually consider performing the operation. If there is not enough skin, maybe a smaller implant can be used but the effect would not be the same as having the bigger ones. While doctors have to be careful with a woman’s mammary glands (not changing the lactation process or damaging anything that is necessary for breastfeeding), in men, there is not much that can be cut off.

Overall, it may be said that the surgeon is the one who needs to be convinced regarding whether or not the man can have the operation. In some cases, doctors are very willing to do this procedure whatever the gender of the individual and whether or not the man is gay or straight. Some doctors are objective in the sense that they fill in the need for their patients.
