A lot of prospective breast augmentation patients fixate on the results and the new life that will ensue while overlooking the fact that they are undergoing surgery to get there. Considering a few tips for the preparation and recovery for the surgery can make a big difference in your experience.

In the days leading up to your breast augmentation,Breast Augmentation Tips for Recovery Articles ask your doctor if he will write your pain medication prescriptions ahead of time. Take them to the pharmacy, and fill them in the days prior to the surgery. Put them in the drawer of the nightstand near your bedside recovery spot with a bottle of water. When you are released from the outpatient facility the day of your surgery, the last thing you will want to do is scope out a pharmacy, wait in line to drop it off, and find out that there is a half day wait for prescriptions.

Back at home, concentrate on your recovery space. Fill it with a lot of pillows of all sizes and shapes so that you can comfortably prop your body as you are healing. Provide a stack of extra blankets within reach of your bedside, and consider making a trip to the newsstand to pick up some tabloid magazines or other frivolous periodicals to read. This will not be a time to catch up on your professional correspondence, your educational reading, or any work that will bear your name to its credit. Stick with reading fluff that you will not need to remember or will not care to remember in the days to come. Remember those pain medications you stocked in your drawer? They have other plans for your memory. Stock the bathroom with toiletries, and make sure you have a few changes of loose tops and bottoms for the next few days. The TV remote and perhaps your newly stocked iPod and dock will come in handy as well.

You may also want to consider your comfort at the hospital the day of your breast augmentation. This is not the time to try out the new shirt you wanted to wear to highlight your new look. Stick with loose fitting, comfortable sweatpants, and as for a top to complete your slouch ensemble, stick with one of your husband’s large and loose buttons ups or a zip-hoodie with nothing underneath. Taking something off over your head will not be pleasant.

Consider taking your own pillows and blankets to on the day of the breast augmentation. This will not only make you more comfortable, but when you are preparing to leave, you can use them to make the wheelchair ride to the car more pleasant and to wedge yourself into the car in a comfortable position. You may want to even put a pillow between your chest and the seatbelt, although this is not recommended to be the safest way to ride in a vehicle, it may be the most comfortable for just this one trip, and since you have already had your medications filled in the days prior, you should be going straight home to that nice, comfortable, prepared space you have made for yourself.
