You may think you have it all figured out but do you? Here are some things that you might not have thought of before you scheduled your breast augmentation consultation.

When you are considering breast augmentation, you’ve probably heard you’ll have a “to do” list from your doctor for after your surgery. So this is something that you’re expecting. But something that you might not have thought about is how you should prepare beforehand. Before you go in for your surgery make sure that your home is clean, and your laundry is all washed and put away. There is nothing like having fresh clean sheets to sleep on, so try having them on the bed and waiting on you when you get home.

Another thing you might want to consider doing before you have breast augmentation is buy your new clothes in advance. It might sound like a silly suggestion but in reality it just makes sense. You don’t want to have to struggle into an ill fitting shirt to go buy new clothes. Have some that will be more accommodating waiting on you for when your surgery is done. You might not want to buy an entire new wardrobe until the surgery is done so that you will know how they fit and that is completely understandable. But you don’t want to squash and overflow until you feel ready to go out shopping. Among your top new buys though should be a few bras, support is key to recovery.

Don’t be afraid of taking pain meds after your breast augmentation procedure. Your doctor will tell you that you don’t need to suffer. If you can get by with just simple ibuprofen it is recommended, who needs to deal with something mind warping and possibly addictive, right. But even if he doesn’t recommend using something more powerful you should ask anyway. He’ll probably give you a prescription for something stronger. Use it only if you feel it’s necessary. If you are feeling extremely anxious after the procedure ask for something for that too, you’ve just underwent a major change in your body and those reactions are normal. Having something on hand such as Xanax can help relieve those feeling so you can rest and heal.

No matter what you think you’ve prepared for with a breast augmentation, be open. Your doctor may have suggestions not just for how you should deal with the recovery but what size you should be. You might go in there thinking that you need one thing and he tell you something totally different. Listen to his experience and expertise. You may end up with a better shape and figure than you had originally planned. If you insist on a certain size or implant he’ll accommodate you but he may really know better in the end.
