Breast implants,Breast Implants Are Constantly Evolving Articles also widely known as breast augmentation, is a common surgery used for a variety of reasons by women and sometimes men who want to enhance, decrease or reconstruct there breasts and surrounding tissues. Breast augmentation has a long history of positives and negatives due to misuse and medical malpractice issues -- some of which have lead to death. Breast implants are a medical reconstructive device, which is placed under the skin and used to help correct a woman's look after pregnancy, illness or major weight loss. Women who have had mastectomies request the surgery to correct the size and shape of there previous breasts to size for which they are now more comfortable. Augmentation can also be used to correct genetic mutation along with other deformities not associated with disease. It is also looked upon as a source of vanity for those who want to enhance there size, breast implants will then give the recipient a chance to have the confidence or comfort they want in there chest size. Breast implants can also be used when doing trans-sexual formation from male to female or female to male. Men who experience breast cancer or a decrease in pectoral muscle also request the surgery to reconstruct there chests. These implants are called Pectoral implants. There are three types of implants: saline, silicone and composite. The most common and know of these is silicone and saline. At this time silicone and saline are approved by the FDA and being used. Breast augmentation is performed usually by a plastic surgeon in a hospital or surgery center under general anesthesia and may require a hospital stay after the procedure. Recovery can vary from patient to patient, but it has been noted that after surgery patients can have soreness, bleeding, swelling and infection amongst other side effects. Scarring can be minimal depending on the surgeon and the reason for the surgery. Women with silicone breast implants will be required to have MRI's after the surgery to ensure that the implants are not leaking. After the implants have been placed women and men have both stated that prior to reconstruction there was more feeling and sensation to there previous breasts than with the new ones. Some have also revealed that there previous chest was firmer and more perky than with there implants, so satisfaction will be found in the individual patient based on there own results. Any one looking for any type of Breast Augmentation surgery should consult with a board certified physician, along with doing ample research on procedure they desire or need.
