The breast lift is not among the top ten plastic surgery procedures done on women. It is one of procedures most likely to be combined with another surgery,
usually breast augmentation.

A study done by the American Society of Plastic surgery showed high levels of satisfaction from patients that received either a lift only or a combination with augmentation. Of these recipients, overall patient satisfaction was 96 percent, with 99 percent saying that they would have the procedure again.
An informal on-line poll of recipients indicated that more than 70 percent of percent of patients said that the mastopexy was worth it. This is compared to nearly 90 percent for a reduction and more than 75 percent for implants.
Who benefits most?
Women typically choose a lift for similar reasons - changes in the appearance caused by childbirth, weight loss or aging. However, women may also suffer from conditions such as breasts that are asymmetrical or tubular, which can be alleviated through a lift or combination.
Along with improving the contour and shape of the bust it can provide a more symmetrical look. It can also enhance the appearance and placement of the nipples and areolas.
Some of the negative side-effects that can cause dissatisfaction include wrinkling around the nipples, keloids and abcesses from the stitches. The good news is that most problems are treatable or will go away after the healing process is complete.
How to get the best results
Most breast lift recipients indicate that the most critical factor in getting good results is selecting the right doctor. Patients who have the most realistic expectations about the risks, potential side effects and limitations are also usually the most satisfied with the outcome.
For these reasons, it is important to take plenty of time researching the procedure and interviewing potential doctors. A doctor must have a complete understanding of a patient’s desired outcome.
