Canadian Pharmacy Supports: The Importance of Dads’ Parenting

Dads' parenting affects the children's growth and development.

Canada drugstore supported a study, which exposed that aside from the genetic aspects that are inherited by the children from their parents, there are also other factors in their lives influenced by their parents’ (especially by their dads’) parenting style.  Canadian prescriptions and supplements that are readily available in Canadian pharmacies play a secondary role though.

Being the father of the family is like being a leader of a group.  There are styles to consider and apply – democratic, authoritarian, authoritative, and the like.  That is, knowing the difference between authoritative parenting, and simply being an authoritarian implies a great deal of bonding and harmonious relationship between fathers and children, and even when the kids grow and mature.

A study published in the June 2011 issue of the Journal of Youth and Adolescence revealed the distinction between authoritarian parents and authoritative parenting.  With the former approach, parents try to stay in strong control of their children’s lives; while the latter parenting style establishes comprehensible regulations and directions but keeps an open mind and offers further discussion with the kids.

"If their child is struggling to pick a major in college, these dads don't tell their kids what they think it should be," Larry Nelson, Brigham Young University family life professor, stated in a university news release. "Instead they'll say, 'Have you ever considered this?' or 'Here's one advantage of that.' And when the child makes a choice, they say, 'I'm proud of you.'"

From the data of a vast survey conducted by Prof. Nelson among college students, he analyzed the association and influence between fathers and kids; and, parenting styles and family relationships.  Results show that fathers who blend love, high expectations and respect for their kids’ independence were more intimate with their children.  This close relationship is even manifested as the kids turn into grown-ups.  In addition, kids with authoritative fathers were more caring and sympathetic, and possess more self-worth compared to children with authoritarian dads.

"They know what's going on in their children's lives, and we're seeing that it's because the kids are willing to tell themScience Articles," Nelson highlighted. "The outcomes are better when parents aren't controlling."
