When people grow older,Cause of Hair Loss Articles aside from the physical signs of aging, one thing that is impossible to miss is hair loss. Though this happens more often to men that women, no one can ignore that it is there.

There are two types of hair loss.

The first is called androgenetic alopecia, which means that this condition is hereditary. If the grandparents and the parents have lost hair, the same thing will happen later on and when the individual gets older. The second is known as alopecia areata. This doesn’t happen often and if it does, the effects are only short term, which is prevalent in the scalp and in some other parts of the body if the person is hairy.

Studies have shown there are other causes of hair loss. This could be because of chemotherapy if the patient is recovering from cancer, hormonal imbalance as a result of being pregnant, malnutrition and stress.

When people are pressured at work, the employee has no choice but to skip meals and the stress just adds up. This means the person is not getting the proper vitamins and nutrients to work well since there isn’t much time until the project has been completed. The good news is that people who are suffering from hair loss can be treated. There are drugs and other ways to make the hair come back and prevent this from happening again. One example is Rogaine that that can be purchased over the counter. It has been approved by the FDA and is known to slow down hair loss and help make it grow back. The active ingredient is this drug is Minoxidil. This drug is a topical, which means the individual will just put it on the affected areas and see growth within a few months. Studies have shown this can also work for people who have lost hair due to androgenetic alopecia. If the over the counter drug doesn’t work, it is time to try something more powerful such as propecia, which has to be prescribed by a doctor. This medication was supposed to treat patients with problems in the prostrate but tests have shown this can also help those experiencing hair loss.

Dutasteride is another product that can treat alopecia. It works by blocking the formation of DHT-5 or alpha-dihydrotestosterone and both types of 5-alpha reductase (5AR) that has been known to cause hair loss. Most of the medication either off the counter or prescribed by a doctor should only be used once a day. Women are advised not take use this if one is pregnant because this is known to cause birth defects. There are other products in the market that claim to prevent hair loss and make it also grow back. Customers may see this in the home shopping network or the Internet that may show some amazing results. Before ordering the product, it is best to do some research to find out if there are any side effects. Consulting a medical professional is also a good idea so that the ingredients in these items can be analyzed and checked if these are really safe to use.

Hair loss is something people have to live with especially if it is genetic. The products mentioned at best may only slow down the process or make some grow back and is something the person must accept as one ages.
