Remember that there are better ways to find chiropractors these days than simply looking in the phone book for the best advertisement. These professionals are typically not shy about getting their business out there for promotion. In and of itself, there’s certainly nothing wrong with that, though you may have mixed feelings about the ones who run 1-800 “legal advice” numbers just to get a quick referral from those who have been in an accident. The truth is, however, there’s no need to rely on advertisements to make your decision. The best doctors and health professionals rely on word of mouth to get the bulk of their business.

You might find yourself happier if you look for smaller offices. You can probably find chiropractors in your city (or within driving distance) that occupy a highrise building with dozens of professionals working out of the same offices. But you have to ask yourself if you’ll receive the kind of personal attention you need in one of those places. Sometimes it pays to think small. A smaller practice will (generally) put more emphasis on communication and individual attention. While being busy is usually a good sign, it isn’t always one you can put your faith into. After all, that expensive advertising you see is there for a reason—it works. It doesn’t, however, necessarily mean you’ll be getting the best care.

When you are making your search, you’ll want to keep in mind that there are two basic types of chiropractors. There are those who are almost mystical in their approach to the field and there are those who approach the practice with a much more medically-based set of ideas. You may find you have more success with the latter.
