We have all seen the commercials for dental services and possibly laughed at the humorous approach highlighting the anxiety most of us have about seeing dentists. Unfortunately,Dentists: 3 Good Reasons to See Yours! Articles while some people have actually had unpleasant and downright traumatizing experiences while sitting in “the chair,” most people really have unjustifiable fears. Seriously, can your teeth actually decay and fall out of your mouth, even if you brush twice a day and floss? According to The American Dental Association, the answer is an emphatic, YES! In fact, semi-annual and annual dentists visits can significantly reduce the onset of disease and tooth decay. This is in addition to nipping existing issues in the bud. Obviously, a dental care provider has training and experience upon which to address your particular oral needs. Let’s face it, there are very few places, if any at all, where one can find easy home remedies for tooth decay!

Another good reason to visit “the chair” is to help decrease costs associated with dental surgeries as well as related health care expenses. You could be walking around with early onset of gingivitis or any other host of oral diseases and you wouldn’t know it because you are not familiar with the symptoms of the disease. A dental care provider does know the symptoms! Dentists would not only be able to diagnose the problem and treat it, but he/she would also be able to tell you if the gingivitis is symptomatic of an even bigger health problem such as a compromised immune system. That’s right in one visit you can determine if your health is in danger, and significantly decrease any long term related health care costs. Whether you caught the gingivitis in its early stages or you don’t have gingivitis at all, you would have saved yourself hundreds, perhaps even thousands, of dollars by just going to the dentist to find out. You heard right; dentists can change your life for the better in one visit!

The last reason, and perhaps most superficially appealing, to visit a dentist is to create and/or maintain a beautiful smile. If the eyes are the window to the soul, then the smile must be a window to your health and virility. Let’s face it, a winning smile is sexy! No matter whom you are or how old you may be, physical attractiveness is a key determinant in first impressions of a potential suitor. By having a perfect set of sparkling teeth, free and clear of odor, stains and disease, you would begin to feel a boost in confidence. I don’t have to tell you how confidence can and does impact your ability to attract. Better yet, don’t take my word for it, just talk to anyone who has veneers or has actually paid for cosmetic dentistry. Chances are, they have had to overcome personal fears of the “the chair” in order to achieve dental perfection. That being the case, who wouldn’t want to put their best teeth forward? It all starts with a trip to the dentist!
