When you go to see dentists you know that there is some time spent in the waiting room. Depending on how many patients are there and how long the appointments are taking,Dentists: Things to Do in the Waiting Room Articles there may be a little bit of a backup. In these cases, there isn't a lot that you can do but wait. Instead of being frustrated by the amount of time that you are going to be stuck there, you can try to use the time productively.

Reading

You may see lots of people with books in their hands. Most people use the time to catch up on a good book. It makes the time pass quickly and is a better idea than just looking around and waiting patiently for your turn. While no one wants to plan on being stuck in the waiting room for over an hour, you do want to bring something that is going to last you a while.

Music

You may choose to listen to music while you are waiting for one of the dentists. Make sure that you bring headphones so that everyone else doesn't have to listen to what you are listening to. You can close your eyes, sit back and wait. The only problem is that you may have a tough time hearing your name when it is called. You can keep an eye on the door or just listen with the headphones in one ear to make sure that you can hear when you are called.

Work Related Materials

If there are things that you can work on from your place of employment this is a great chance to do it. You can catch up on memos and other reading material. You may be able to bring your laptop to the dentists waiting room. It might be a good idea to contact the dentists office to make sure that this is okay. Also, remember that there may not be any type of wireless internet to get you online.

You aren't going to want to catch up on phone calls as this can be distracting to some of the other people in the waiting room. You may take calls and walk outside, but you run the risk of missing when your name is called. Even if you can just take notes or jot down some ideas when you get a chance, this can help you pass the time.

Planning and Bill Paying

You can even get some regular things done while waiting at the dentists office. Consider bringing your planner and writing down some new things for your schedule. You can also bring checks and bills and fill out and mail when you are done with the appointment. Find a seat with a table nearby and make sure that you have enough room to work. While it may not seem pleasant and may not be your first choice of things to do, it will keep you productive and on task. No matter what you choose to do, just try to wait as patiently as possible for your appointment.
