Do Bald Men Get Dandruff?

The  skin constantly renews itself; dead cells from the scalp will  fall off as new cells will form beneath them. Everyone loses skin cells in one or the other way.

With the process of dandruff is faster, so a greater number of cells are shed. This means the cells shed in clumps (flakes) that are big enough to be seen by the eye.

Flakes of dandruff are especially visible when they land on dark clothing. The scalp can also be itchy. The medical name for dandruff is pityriasis capitis, and it's the most common condition of the scalp.

• Many people think they get dandruff because their scalp's too dry. They stop washing their hair with shampoo, or wash it less frequently, because they believe it makes the condition worse. This isn't true.

• Flaking only happens because of an increased turnover of skin cells or an infection of the scalp. It's more common in children with eczema.

Many a times, it is noticed that people who have lost their hair particularly to male pattern baldness also tend to display a shiny scalp. Bald men also face the problem of dandruff. It looks as if their heads have been varnished with waxy polishes. Dandruff is caused by dead skin on heads falling off of the head, so yes people with male pattern hair loss do get dandruff. When you have hair, you have more dandruff because the dandruff also gets tangled in the hair. When a person shakes your head, the dandruff on the head and in the hair falls out.

• An oil known as sebum is secreted by the skin. the skin is protected from the air borne microscopic invaders. Sebum is secreted in greatest abundance on the forehead, on the scalp and inside the ear. The skin pores are very large.

• Sebum is very good for the hair. It acts as a natural conditioner. However, if the scalp of a bald man is not washed well, the sebum will build up and will combine with various other dead skin cells and things such as hair spray and gel. It can harden and will form an embedded and a dense plaque.

Thus, the debate whether bald people can get dandruff or not is never ending. One can never predict it. however, various precautions can be taken for the same. A person has to be very careful while dealing with it.
