It's truly amazing how everyone is willing to run to the medical doctor to get poked and prodded and put on drugs to help them “stay healthy” but, few individuals are really willing to do the work that it's going to take to get themselves healthy without relying on current medical techniques very easily because this will take some effort on their behalf. There are many things that you will be able to do to change your life for the better and lead a more healthy and more productive life.

Taking steps to a healthier lifestyle starts with eating better.  Selecting foods like fresh fruits and vegetables over frozen foods or fast foods will definitely help to give you a better foundation for a healthy life.  Even just attempting to increase the number of fruits and vegetables in your diet will leave you full and will give you less room for the junk food that you may otherwise choose.

Sleep is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle and while you might think that you don’t need much rest your body requires this time to help it function appropriately at least 8-10 hours of sleep will find you more productive, healthier, and happier.  The more rest you get the less likely you are to consume sugar and caffeinated beverages to keep yourself going through your day.  Many times overeating stems from exhaustion and dehydration.

Drink plenty of water.  While this may seem like a silly thing dehydration can make you feel tired, weak, and most of all hungry.  With so many delicious beverages on the market that dehydrate this confuses the body so that people don’t feel like they are thirsty even when their body is in need of more water.

Exercise is a key to longevity.  Taking the time to make exercise part of your routine will help you to get healthier, have more energy, and will help to improve your heart, lung, and muscle function.  Exercise is also an excellent way to alleviate stress which is another leading health problem in America.

Take the time to take care of yourself and you will reap the benefits of good self care.  Visit your doctor routinely to make sure that you are on the right track and pay your health insurance premiums just in case but if you take the right path then you should find that you have less of a need to see the doctor and less need to use your health insurance except for routine check ups.
