Addiction can be defined as dependence on something that can severely affect the person physically, mentally and psychologically. Drug addiction results in compulsive use of drugs due to the prolonged effect of the drugs on the brain. The detoxification is followed by psychological treatment that involves friends and family members to motivate the patients. The counselors advise the patients on how to avoid drug craving and prevent relapse to live a drug free healthy life.
