The healthcare industry has gone miles with the age advancements. Innumerable numbers of people seek a doctor or a physician every day.

The physicians are accustomed to being able to quickly capture the financial data necessary for their billing staff to file the claim and get reimbursed for services they provided. Anything that slows them down will not be easily tolerated. Even in a well integrated system there are workflow and process orientation problems.

Since time is a major factor for physicians,EMRs can be continuously updated Articles there have been a few breakthroughs in the medical sector. Focusing on one important goal; to craft a medical practice solution that maximizes the benefits, there has been an introduction of software packages and infrastructure.  With time there has been an introduction of EMR (Electronic Medical Record) and PMS (Practice Management System) to aid physicians and save time.

An Electronic Medical Record (EMR) is a computerized medical record created in an organization that delivers care, such as a hospital or physician's office. Electronic medical records tend to be a part of a local stand-alone health information system that allows storage, retrieval and modification of records. Practice Management System/Software (PMS) is a category of software that deals with the day-to-day operations of a medical practice. Such software frequently allows users to capture patient demographics, schedule appointments, maintain lists of insurance payers, perform billing tasks, and generate reports.

EMRs can be continuously updated. The ability to exchange records between different EMR systems (interoperability) would facilitate the co-ordination of healthcare delivery in non-affiliated healthcare facilities. In addition, data from an electronic system can be used anonymously for statistical reporting in matters such as quality improvement, resource management and public health communicable disease surveillance.

PMS is often connected to electronic medical records (EMR) systems. While some information in a PMS and an EMR overlaps — for example, patient and provider data — in general the EMR system is used for the assisting the practice with clinical matters, while PMS is used for administrative and financial matters. Medical practices often hire different vendors to provide the EMR and PMS systems. The integration of the EMR and PMS software is considered one of the most challenging aspects of the Medical practice management software implementation.
