You may think that you are doomed to a life of being damp - and even sopping wet at times.  It's embarrassing, uncomfortable and affects your life in undesirable ways.  You may avoid personal or intimate relationships; you may also be paranoid that you have an unpleasant odor because of the sweating.  Here are a few tips for excessive head, facial or underarm sweating:

1.  Wear loose clothing made of natural materials like cotton.  Avoid silk or any fabrics that are slick, as they make the problem worse.

2.  Try to reduce stress and anxiety as much as possible.  These conditions aggravate your already overactive sweat glands.  You will notice that when you become anxious or nervous, you perspire more heavily.

3.  Reduce stimulants and spicy foods in your diet.  Caffeine should be limited, as well as tobacco.  Try to avoid foods with lots of garlic, onions or cayenne pepper.

4.  If your underarms tend to sweat profusely, make sure you are using an antiperspirant that contains aluminum chloride.  Wear light colored clothing, as the stains are not as visible as they are on dark colors.

There are literally hundreds of tips that help stop excessive sweating.  Of course, if you have the money you may want to invest in botox injections.  This works in most cases, but will have to be repeated after about six months.  There are prescription medications that may help the problem as well, but most have undesirable side effects.
