Excessive sweating is involuntary and caused by malfunction in the sweat glands. Hyperhidrosis as a disorder causes unwanted uncontrolled flow of body fluids. Normally, it is localized in areas like the soles, armpits, groin and palms. It can occur to anyone, male or female starting from teenage years until a lifetime, if not treated.
Since this disorder is becoming a problem for most people, there are available sweating treatments to combat this. An important point is to consult an expert regarding the condition.Several common treatments are antiperspirants, iontophoresis, and botox. Antiperspirants are made of aluminum chemicals which block sweat from coming out. Iontophoresis involves water with electric current passing through which flows to the immersed affected body parts. Botulinum toxin or botox is a treatment where proteins block chemicals responsible for nerve signal transmission.
The sweating treatments mentioned should be accompanied with understanding of the functions of your body and consultation with a doctor. There could be no detectable cause for the condition but ignoring any medication will only worsen the suffering. Uncontrollable sweating can lead to increased stress, kidney problem, dehydration, and skin infections. Moreover, it can be a threat to one's daily tasks because of its psychological effect to a person. Anxiety, depression and social withdrawal due to the condition will be responses to the embarrassment and distress one gets from sweating too much.
