To properly explain how to relieve a hemorrhoid you must understand exactly what a hemorrhoid is along with the main causes of the condition.

A hemorrhoid is often a swollen or protruding blood vein which had formed a swollen lump on, in, or around the anus. There are multiple types of Hemorrhoids known as external Hemorrhoids, internal Hemorrhoids, and prolapsed Hemorrhoids.
  • An internal Hemorrhoid is a hemorrhoid which is located and grows within the anus. Often people will not know when they have an internal Hemorrhoid due to the lack of nerves within the anus connecting to the sensors within the brain. The only real way to identify if you have an internal Hemorrhoid is the hemorrhoid can become ruptured or agitated by the passing of a bowel movement thus resulting in small traces of blood with your stool.
  • An external hemorrhoid is a hemorrhoid located on the outside of the anus, can be caused by blockages due to constipation, blood clots, or sitting for frequent periods of time. External hemorrhoids are easy to identify and can also be very painful and itchy.
  • A prolapsed hemorrhoid is an internal hemorrhoid which has been pushed outside of the anus prolapsed hemorrhoids are also susceptible to becoming a strangulated hemorrhoid by the sphincter muscle trapping the hemorrhoid and cutting off the blood circulation from and to.
So what are the main causes of a hemorrhoid?

A hemorrhoid can be caused by multiple different types of conditions. The most common conditions are due to malnutrition such as;
  • Constipation due to dehydration causing pressure and trapping veins in the anus.
  • Vitamin E deficiencies
  • Diarrhea
  • Hyper tension
  • Pregnancies
  • Obesity
The best ways to relieve a hemorrhoid is to locate each possible cause and try to eliminate the hemorrhoid by treating yourself for the most common causes in relation to your lifestyle.

For example drinking lots of water, Taking Vitamin supplements, eating healthy foods and exercising on a regular basis, while avoiding sitting around and doing nothing for long periods of time. Taking frequent warm bathes can also help ease the agitation and loosen pressure which could be pinching off veins and causing hemorrhoids,  along with temporarily soothing painful agitation and itching.
