To start off, we all know that foods that are processed, refined, and made with additives and preservatives aren’t good for us. Processed foods may taste good and last long but contain only little nutrition. This is why organic foods should always be preferred over “junk” foods. Moreover, fast food and the likes contain high sodium levels without us even realizing it. The same goes for canned and packaged food.

 

Bear in mind that if you consume foods from natural sources, the better. Simply put, eating fruits and veggies raw are better than cooking them too much since important nutrients may seep away when we heat them.

 

Although eating fruits and vegetables is better than eating meat, avoid fried vegetable dishes or those drowned in rich sauces and dressings. These contain a lot of unnecessary calories and unhealthy fat. Canned fruits and juices contain high sugar levels; if you still want to eat or drink them, try diluting them in water.

 

Carbohydrates must not be shunned entirely since there are good carbohydrates and there are bad ones. The latter includes refined grains, sugar, rice, or anything that has been stripped off its bran, fiber, and nutrients. Eating too much of it may lead to an unhealthy rise in blood sugar levels which can cause diabetes or obesity. This is why we should opt for whole grain choices instead.
