3. Protect patients from risks posed by their own health. If a doctor suspects that he or she has a condition that is serious and there are chances that they may pass the condition to their patients, it is required of that they stop providing medical care and consequently direct patients to other suitable colleagues.

4. Keep accurate, legible and clear records. It is important for doctors to maintain r records of all patients. This should be done accurately to avoid misdiagnosis, which is medical malpractice, and may lead to the doctor being denied the opportunity to continue their medical practice.

Important medical records should always include:

* Clinical findings that are relevant

* Decisions and actions agreed upon. Those who are making the decisions and    agreeing to the actions should also be recorded.

* Information that is given to patients

* Treatment administered; drugs that have been prescribed and other relevant investigations

5. Teamwork, communication and partnership

Information should be provided to people in a way that they can understand.

In a healthcare world where politics seem to prevail over providing true, authentic healthcare, it can be easy to get sidetracked and forget about the patient. Keep these  tips in mind and there’s no doubt that you’ll be a successful doctor.
