There is an old saying to the effect that a person should eat like a pauper for dinner,How To Best Honor Your Stomach During Each Part Of The Day Articles dine like a prince at lunch and for the very first meal of the day, he or she should feast like royalty. This is a clever adage, especially when spoken in its original form and it definitely speaks true of the body's nutritional needs. In order to give themselves the proper amount of fuel for optimal functioning, people must avoid over- and under-eating.

A pauper's repast certainly does not sound like much fun. The goal behind eating light at dinnertime, however, is to simply avoid overloading the body on calories before putting it to bed. This is a great way to avoid unnecessary weight gain and the food nightmares that are the basis of many old wives' tales and which have often proven to be quite true.

Dinner can include a light soup and salad combination or a small serving of meat and a modest amount of starch and vegetables. In ideal circumstances, the adherence to other mealtime instructions will leave an individual feeling quite full and satiated throughout the day. Thus, he or she will not be famished once this final meal is served.

Lunch is not quite as simple but not quite as robust as the morning meal either. The diner can enjoy bread and if there is a desire to indulge in dessert, this is definitely time to do it. There will remain sufficient hours in the day to burn these calories off, before going to bed.

The middle meal can include richer dishes such as pasta. Heavier meats might be better consumed at this time as well, such as red meats or the fattier portions of fowl. These things are more likely to be turned into fuel in these early hours than stored on the waistline or hips.

Breakfast, however, is the meal to look forward to as it can be a time of almost sinful revelry in the hedonist pleasure of satisfying the pallet. This is the time to enjoy eggs, ample portions of butter, sweet pastries, crisp bacon, Hollandaise sauce, tarts, jams and more. The diner can consumer ample amounts of rich, decadent coffee drinks such as frothy mochas with thick, dollops of whipped cream. Once filled to brim with an array of morning delights, it will be far easier to imagine yourself dining like a pauper once the sun has set.
