Definitive signs that would indicate colic in babies are bloated stomachs due to accumulation of gas.  Mothers can easily feel with their hands if the stomachs of their babies are full of air by just touching them.  Also, the way babies cry and wail by stretching their bodies backwards and flailing their arms and legs are indication that their stomachs are full of gas.  These signs would signal to mothers that their babies are suffering from colic.

These indications would be further validated as signs that they have colic if they have just been feed and are dry but are still crying and wailing endlessly.  It is then a necessity that mothers should have an idea how to cure colic so as to minimize the troubling cries that their babies would make especially at night when everyone needs to sleep soundly to prepare for work the following day.    

The most basic and simple way in how to cure colic in babies would be through the natural way, which would be for mothers to hug closely to their bodies their colic stricken babies, and sing for them sweet melodies while doing some rhythmic movements following the tempo of their songs.  This procedure can minimize the discomfort felt by babies suffering from colic as they would feel secure in their mothers’ arms aided by the comforting melodies that they can hear from the lullabies being sung by their mothers.

Another way to cure colic in babies would be to make them feel refreshed and relaxed.  This would need for mothers to subject their babies to warm baths with aromatic essential oils. Before embarking on this procedure, mothers need to consult their respective pediatricians to know the right kind of aromatic essential oils that they can use for their baby’s bath.  Bathing the babies would make them feel comfortable and the aromatic essential oil would make them feel relaxed.

Babies who are bottle fed can likewise be transferred to Soya based milk formulation.  It is medically proven that colic in babies can be minimized by making them feed on Soya based milk formulation.  However, mothers would still have to refer to their pediatricians if their babies are ready for transfer to Soya based milk. As an added precaution for bottle fed babies, mothers should always inspect the nipples used in the feeding bottles. Used nipples with stretched holes on them will make babies ingest a lot of air when sucking on their milk which would result to colic. Thus, mothers should make sure the nipples used in bottle feeding their babies are always new with just the right size of hole.
