The reason that cancer is the second leading cause of death in the U.S. is because it is a lifestyle disease and many have poor lifestyles. They are not in business to help people but to make money. It is not profitable for doctors if people die. It also not profitable for doctors if patients are cured quickly. So what is profitable is for the person to be sick for a while. Medical ways to treat cancer work at keeping them alive but not making them healthy.

The best way to prevent or fight cancer is by yourself or with a naturopathic doctor. The number one factor in preventing and fighting cancer is getting enough vitamin D. Sunday is the first day of the week and it is the day to celebrate the sun. Anything that improves the strength of the immune system prevents cancer. Here is something else that most Americans have a problem with-- getting enough sleep or having problems sleeping. You need enough quality sleep to maintain a healthy immune system and to not go crazy. Mariah Carey had a nervous breakdown and said that it was due to lack of sleep. Not enough sleep can cause many problems including dementia. Research has shown that while you sleep, toxins are taken out of your brain at an accelerated rate.

Another thing that compromises the immune system and is more closely associated with cancer is too many toxins in the body. In natural health they say that this is called toxemia and is the source of many, if not most, health problems. They have found that vitamin D helps the body to get rid of toxins. The U.S. Library of Medicine says that vitamin D is not a vitamin since the body can make it when it gets enough sunlight. A vitamin is something that the body needs but cannot make or manufacture. They say that vitamin D is actually a neurosteroid hormone that every cell in the body needs.

One thing that helps the body get rid of toxins is fasting. You can even sunbathe while fasting and get vitamin D. Fasting has been shown by research to extend life and make people stronger and smarter (increases cognitive abilities). Some say that fasting is not healthy for you. That is as ignorant as saying that sleep is not healthy for you. Why? Because when you sleep, you have to fast. When you start eating again you are said to break your fast. The first meal of the day is break-fast.

Exercise is important for your immune system and many other things. It also helps circulation. It can also help you to lose weight. It also reduces stress that can wreak havoc on your health and your immune system. Any bit of exercise that you can get is better than no exercise at all. Things that are recomended to help you get more exercise is to park in the farthest parking place from the store. Take the stairs instead of the elevater. Also when you drive home, you can walk around the block before going into your house.

Some say that it is hard to know what is healthy to eat due to conflicting opinions. It is not hard to know but it may be inconvenient to eat what is healthy. Dr. Oz says to eat foods without an ingredient list. That is another way to say to eat unprocessed foods made by God or nature instead of eating foods made by man that want you to buy and eat as much food as you possibly can. Many studies show that plant foods prevent cancer due to the phytochemicals (plant medicines) in them like lycopene in tomatoes and watermelon, resveratrol in grapes and curcumin in turmeric. A popular study done with 500,000 people showed that eating meat can increase your chances of getting cancer and also dying in general. You can always try to eat less meat or eat meat that is not highly processed.

The kaempferol (a phytochemical) in green tea prevents cancer, diabetes and inflammation. Drinking green tea daily can even help you lose weight due to the EGCG in it. Tea also conatains theanine that is a uniquue amino acid that conteracts the effects of caffeine making tea a relaxing beverage. By drinking green tea, you are drinking your greens. The American culture is hundreds of years old while the Chinese culture is thousands of years old. They believe in karma where the better that you treat others, the better life and others will treat you. Most Chinese restaurants do not serve water but give you all the tea that you want at no cost (free).

A few evenings ago I ate a delicious meal at a Chinese restaurant in Oxnard, California that we were visiting) called Buddhist's Delight with browm rice. It had 10 different vegetables in it and tasted great (delightful). It had in it tofu that is made of soybeans, carrots, 2 different kinds of mushrooms, water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, baby corn, pea pods and more. My friends also got vegetable dishs and we shared them so I also had roasted eggplant and other vegetables. Even though it was winter there in Oxnard, there were people surfing and kids playing in the ocean.

Taking a vacation can be good for stress. A great exercise for stress is yoga and it can also help with different mental problems like anxiety and depression. I have been doing yoga since age 12. Not only is stress terrible for health but it goes directly against happiness. One cannot be stressed out and be happy. Stress can also cause people to eat too much and especially eat foods that are terrible for health.

Being overweight is bad for the immune system and for health in general. Also extra weight around the abdominal area is extra bad since it places pressure on the internal organs. The things that I have mentioned above can help you to lose extra weight especially fasting. The best way to fast is to only drink pure water with nothing else in it.
