My insurance is through my wife's employers health insurance company. The coverage has been affordable and accountable. They had done a great job taking care of all the routine and some emergency claims.

Last year around Christmas I was decorating our house as I have for the past 15 years and climbing up and down the attic bringing all the ornaments and such onto the ground. As I was on my way up the last time I slipped and fell down violently. I broke my collar bone and fractured my hip. I was busted up pretty good and was a horrible site to my wife.

With a few surgery's and a month or two of therapy I was back on my feet. For the life of me I could not shake this pain in my back and it was getting increasingly painful by the day. I had an MRI done and discovered I had ruptured 4 or 5 disks in my back that was due to the fall. Nothing was helping the pain no matter what I kept doing. From massages,Hurting Yourself And Dealing With Insurance Articles acupuncture, seeing chiropractor and lots more therapy. Pain medication was becoming a vital part of my life.

This is what we have the coverage for emergencies like this and they paid for everything to date. The pain is so bad I can't attempt to earn a living and I am on so many medications for pain, I had no idea there was so many. I also, unfortunately am on an anti depressant to keep my spirits up!

Here is my problem. All the doctors have confirmed that I need surgery and I need it now. The insurance company will not cover it, they are calling it not medically necessary. I have pursued this endlessly with them and I can't get them to budge.

Everything including my marriage is falling apart. I am medicated 24 hours a day and I am still in extreme pain. See if this makes any sense to you, between all my tests, therapy and the thousands of dollars on prescriptions, triple the expense of what surgery would cost. This would actually save them money. In plain sight, a profit monster at it's best! This is wrong and unethical.
