Information about the anti-anxiety drug Xanax

Xanax is a trade name for Alprazolam that belongs to the benzodiazepine class of drugs. It has other trade names as well and some people would know it by the name Xanor or Niravam. The drug is used to treat ailments such as extreme anxiety disorders or panic attacks. It can also be used for treating moderate levels of depression, but then it will be a supplement to the main drug that is being used to tackle the problem. The main properties of Xanax are of a sedative, hypnotic, anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, and a muscle relaxant.

Generally most of theses side effects are pretty innocuous and they generally tend to go away over a period of time as the treatment is continued.
