If you cannot choose between Invisalign and traditional braces,Invisalign Vs. Traditional Braces Articles you should consider the main benefits of each. You should also find out the drawbacks of each process. Both often take years to straighten the teeth, so you should ensure that you select the best option for you. Be sure to have a consultation with at least one dentist before deciding, as he or she can let you know the best option for your situation.

First, consider the main problem with your smile. If your front teeth are crooked, or you have a moderate space in the front, Invisalign is usually the best method. On the other hand, regular braces tend to correct overbites, underbites, and the position of the back molars. The same goes for an extreme space or severely crooked teeth. You can go to your dentist to ask which issues you need to fix, and therefore which option is best, but you may be able to determine this choice on your own by just looking at your smile.

Of course, both choices often fix the same problem, which means that you still might be confused as to the best option for you. One of the main benefits of Invisalign is the fact that you can remove the aligners when you want, so if you have a big event coming up and do not wish to wear them, you have the choice of taking them out. Of course, know that the more often you wear the aligners, the faster you will see results, so be discerning when deciding to take them out for the day. Note that the aligners are virtually invisible to others anyway, so you should not have an issue with keeping them in the majority of the time. In addition, there are no sharp metal parts that hurt your gums and tongue, allowing you to be more comfortable while wearing the aligners.

On the other hand, if you have to wear traditional braces to fix your dental issues, all hope is not lost. You may be able to get clear braces, which are not as obvious as the typical metal kind. Unlike the traditional type, these are not easy to see until others get close to you, as they are usually made of metal and clear plastic parts. These have the strength necessary to fix major problems, such as overbites and underbites, but are less noticeable than usual, meaning that they are almost as discreet as Invisalign aligners.

You should first consider your personal preference when it comes to the methods used to fix your smile. Consider how important it is that others not see metal in your mouth, and also find out the costs of each method. Then talk to your dentist to find out which choice is best for you. If you do not yet have a dentist, know that some of them offer a free consultation to new patients, so look for this option before choosing. You can also ask your doctor for a recommendation since he or she might know a particularly good one, who can then lead you to the best option for your teeth.
