It does seem that the best way to stay healthy is to prevent things before they happen. There are many different types of preventative medicines on the market now for all sorts of things. There is no doubt that giving shots to people so that they don't catch and spread very contagious diseases is a good idea. The question is should more money and research be put into finding a cure for various cancers instead of making more medicine that helps to prevent a sexually transmitted disease.

The fact about sexually transmitted diseases is that they can be stopped by using condoms. Why develop something that costs loads of money when a preventative measure already exists. One reason that people are now thinking hard about this now is the trend now to inoculate young teenage girls against the Human Pappaloma Virus. This is being pushed and done all over the US.

Another new medicine has been created to protect people from the spread of HIV. It has been designed and marketed just for men that are in a high risk group for HIV and that are currently HIV negative. It was made to keep them from contracting the disease from other men. Some people argue that there are already condoms made just for this,Is Preventative Medicine Going A Bit Too Far? Articles so why bother with creating something new.

This once a day pill is called Turvada and is designed to be used in conjunction with condoms. This medication is currently available by prescription for those who request it and is supposed to help prevent the spread of the deadly virus if it accidentally gets past a condom during sex.

It just seems odd that while millions of people are dying of cancer each and every year that medical research is dedicating so much time and energy to investigating the ways in which to keep people safe from sexually transmitted diseases. More money and time needs to be dedicated to finding cures for cancers and developing more screening processes for these deadly cancers. Sexually transmitted diseases like HIV are serious but are for the most part preventable for those who use good common sense. It just seems that our money could be better spent researching those illnesses that are not yet preventable but it is really just about the buck and the drug companies are looking to further line their pockets with the profits from drugs for HIV and HPV instead of doing the hard work of finding the bigger answers. In the end it is all about the money and nothing about keeping Americans safer or healthier as the general population has been lead to believe.
