Isolation gowns are protective apparels generally used to protect health care workers from the spread of infection or illness in case the wearer comes in contact with an infected person through bodily fluids,ISOLATION GOWNS: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW Articles clothing, blood and other kinds of secretions.

A few other terms are also used to refer to isolation gowns in health care centers such as - surgical gowns, non-surgical gowns, procedural gowns, cover gowns, operating room gowns etc.

Disposable protective coveralls are considered to be the second most significant component of a PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) kit after gloves. These gowns combine protection, styling and comfort for a wide range of applications.

At present, these gowns currently available in the market offer  resistance to blood and other bodily fluids depending on the type of the material that is being used to manufacture the same.

Basically, there are four levels of barrier protection provided by disposable coveralls lowes, ranging from level one, which is the lowest level of protection, to level four, which is the highest level. By keeping in mind the standard these classification levels, manufacturers are able to label their respective products according to the level of protection their product provides, and Health Care Workers can more easily select the appropriate barrier they need against infection. All kinds of Isolation gowns or coveralls are subject to this classification system. These levels are briefly explained below-

Level 1: (Coverage from minimal risk)

These gowns are used for basic care/ standard isolation from the infection.

Level 2: (Coverage from low risk)

These are used in health care centres during blood draw, in pathology lab or in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit)

Level 3: (Coverage from moderate risk)

This level of isolation gowns are significant for insertion of IV i.e. Intravenous line or in emergency rooms while operating on trauma cases.

Level 4: ( Coverage from high risk)

These gowns are used for long surgical procedures including fluid intense operations or in cases when pathogen resistance is needed.

The emerging threat of infectious diseases such as coronavirus has highlighted the need of using isolation gowns to ensure protection against the spread of the virus.

Apart from these levels, there is one more basis of differentiating isolation gowns i.e. their usability. The first one is reusable isolation gowns and the other one is disposable isolation gowns. Both of these types of gowns have their own advantages and disadvantages.

Reusable gowns-

Reusable isolation gowns as the name suggests, can be used multiple times. These gowns are washed after every single use. Typically they are made up of 100% cotton or polyester or a mixture of both. However impermeable materials are effective in reducing the chances of transfer of microorganisms, but the comfort of the wearer gets compromised.

Disposable isolation gowns-

Disposable coveralls are discarded after just a single use. Disposable gowns are typically made up of non-woven materials alone or in combination with materials that offer a high level of protection from liquid penetration, such as plastic films. A variety of synthetic fibers (such as- polypropylene, polyester, polyethylene) are used for the manufacturing disposable isolation gowns.

Various errands call for various degrees of liquid assurance and in this way the Medline offers outfits produced using a few unique textures to cover each need. Coverall protective suits play a key role and thus should be of supreme quality. Cheap disposable coveralls are high in demand.
