The concept of “test tube” babies is not so new now when once hears of so many clinics and doctors’ specializing in them. It seems easy like a formula to create a baby outside the womb in controlled environment of a lab. IVF treatment in India has caught up like a new trend and has also contributed to a new type of medical tourism for parents from countries where IVF is either strictly regulated or too expensive.

Delhi being the capital of country with millions of practising doctors is a major hub of IVF in India. From big hospitals to small unknown doctors,IVF Centre in Delhi: Affordable Infertility Treatment Success Rate and Procedure Articles the technology is accessible to all. Along with IVF, many clinics also specialise in surrogacy process and help expecting parents in finding a good surrogate mother or even a good sperm donor.

Usually one will go an IVF centre only after getting good references from somewhere. One has to be careful while choosing the IVF to be sure of the procedure, the costs involved, the comfort level and the details the doctor is sharing. Even after understanding and following all the Dos and Don’ts the results vary from patient to patient even with similar age and health status.

Also it’s important to check the success rate of the doctor and that clinic before entering into any treatment and committing the money. Delhi which has thousands of small clinics are many times quack shops run with multiple revenue as the aim. For example skin specialists running IVF centres is an anomaly which was found.

Do check if embryologist in the clinic is a permanent or a consulting person. There might be a “part time” embryologist who is available to the clinic only once or twice for IVF or ICSI procedures. These clinics batch all the patients together and perform 5-25 of treatments together over a period of two days. Now this might work for few patients but since everyone’s body is different and grows eggs and fertilises at different rates, this will not be giving due consideration to your body. The doctor will perform the egg-collection on the pre-scheduled date and the chances conceiving might drop even further than before. This type of unrealistic and non- personalised treatment will create further issues in the body and also burn a hole in your pocket.

Many of these “part time” doctors spend time in only delivering babies and performing hysterectomies because it is more profitable.IVF is like a common experiment many doctors will do and leave it to chance and luck. This sub-standard care and personalised treatment gives inaccurate results. One has to be careful while choosing so. The doctor has to be available to monitor your progress. If any “part time” doctor who is not going to be available will only give a standard prescription.

Many small clinics also share the “eggs” of the patient with unfertile women and make money without informing the patient. This is grossly unethical and can also create situation where your treatment ends up benefitting someone else.
