Keeping your skin clean is a good first defense against many of these complexion issues. Clean skin will lessen the effects that oils and dirt have and is one primary reason for the development of acne. However, using the right cleaning compound will give you better results than just washing your face with water. Many soaps and generic cleansers are not very effective in dealing with acne skin type and might be doing more damage than good.

Persons of any age can have an occasional bout with acne, but it is well documented that teens have the biggest struggle with this skin issue. This is mostly because their body is going through molecular level changes that affect the skin in the form of reactions that must constantly be monitored. Currently there is no immediate solution and some cases will keep a dermatologist struggling and confused.

The varying degrees of acne can make a difficult to treat and most individuals begin with over the counter cleansers and acne medications in hopes that they will do the trick. Then many tend to upgrade to programs like ProActive which has been shown to have impressive results in many teens and young adults. Still at the end of the day, however, there will be those individuals who still won't have clear skin even when they do everything possible to clear it up and long term acne can lead to long term scarring so the affects go long past those teenage years.

Dermatologists are a good defense for the more sever cases of skin issues. They can usually formulate a skin care regiment for better skin treatment and results. This usually includes not just effective cleaners but a change in diet as part of the treatment. Acne, for most people is outgrown, but for those who continue to deal with these issues are familiar with the embarrassment and continue to search for the help they needed yesterday.
