We’re talking about acne, of course, and some people aren’t lucky enough to be finished with the problem after graduating from high school. The problem lingers on into middle age and it can lead to intense scarring and pockmarks that ravage an otherwise beautiful face. Certain forms of laser skin care can address this problem with some degree of success. If you’ve been hiding your scars for too many years, this could be the answer you’ve been looking for.One of the most popular forms of laser skin care for acne scarring comes in the form of the fraxel laser. In order to understand the scarring procedure, you have to understand how they got there in the first place. There are a couple of different forms of scarring. When there is an excess of collagen production in the skin, a raised, keloid scar is left behind. When there is a loss of tissue, an icepick scar is left behind. This is usually the result of acne and can be aggravated by picking at the eruptions or popping them before they’re ready. Laser skin care therapy works in most cases by stimulating the body to produce additional collagen. This collagen then comes to the surface and creates a smooth new layer of skin that covers up the scars and makes it look as though they were never present. In the ablative process, the topmost layer of the skin, including the scar, is blasted away with the light from the laser. A small injury is left for the body to heal with additional collagen, making the resulting skin much more smooth. It isn’t an instant process and their may be some degree of pain and recovery before the results are clear. Following most forms of laser skin care treatment for acne scarring, your skin is going to be reddened and somewhat sore. It could be compared to a sunburn. During the recovery time, your doctor may prescribe some pain medication for you to use, though most doctors will simply recommend using Tylenol to manage the soreness. The healing process shouldn’t take any longer than a week or two, at which time the results of the process can begin shining through and you can begin to enjoy your new , smooth skin.
