Liposuction Surgery - Using Lasers to Make a Better Procedure

Liposuction surgery can do wonders for one's figure. However, the more traditional methods tend to create a more traumatic experience. Laser liposuction is a much better alternative, requiring little recovery time and less trauma.

Liposuction surgery has changed a lot since it was first introduced in the early 1980's. In the past, many women decided against the surgery because it involved a hospital stay and the use of anesthesia, which might have seemed like a little too much for some. Luckily, this procedure has evolved into a non-invasive surgery requiring almost no recovery time.

There are many advantages to trying one of the new liposuction techniques. Laser liposuction is a new development in liposuction surgery that has gained popularity much faster than its traditional predecessor. It has become popular very quickly because as in invasive procedure, it is much more accessible. It is also an outpatient procedure that can be performed in the surgeon's office,. This also makes the procedure much more affordable since the use of surgical equipment and hospital facilities tend to account for a lot of the cost of liposuction surgery. This non-invasive aspect also accounts for the lack of recovery time, which is a big factor in why many patients decide against this cosmetic procedure. In fact, much patients who have undergone a laser liposuction can resume their normal activities the same day. As an added benefit, the laser procedure is much more precise and therefore allows for better body sculpting and skin tightening. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the procedure, laser liposuction can only remove excess fat in small volumes. Therefore, patients who are looking to remove significant amounts of fat may need to go with the more traditional technique.

As the name suggests, laser liposuction uses lasers to help remove excess fat. First, the doctor will administer a local anesthetic, which unlike general anesthesia, does not render the patient unconscious. Then the doctor will inject a tumescent fluid at the site of the fat removal. This solution helps to soften the fat and restrict the blood vessels, which helps to reduce swelling and bleeding. Once the area is prepared, the surgeon will then use the laser technology to both melt the fat and sculpt the area. Similar to a traditional liposuction, the final step also involves a suction device, which is used to remove the excess fat. However, since the fat has been softened and melted, a much smaller cannula is used, which significantly reduces trauma and bruising to the skin and underlying tissue.

Laser liposuction is a good alternative to the more traditional fat-removing methods. In fact, many patients have found that their skin remains tighter with the use of lasersScience Articles, instead of the more traditional invasive surgery.
