When you decide it is time to have liposuction done, you will want to choose the best technique for it. The standard tumescent technique is similar to the normal type, but there are a few differences.

There are a variety of ways that liposuction can be done today. Most of the techniques have something to do with how that fat is broken up. Fat can be broken up simply by using a cannula,Liposuction Using the Standard Tumescent Technique Articles ultrasonic waves, or by using lasers. The way fat is diluted is another way to separate techniques in this procedure. Using no wetting solution may cause bleeding and scarring.

Originally this surgery was not done with a wetting solution. Today there are various wetting solution options. The one that injects the largest amount of solution into the fat prior to removal is called tumescent. This technique inserts up to 6 times the amount of solution as the fat that is removed. It is not simply water that is used in this technique. It is actually a combination of local anesthetic, salt water, and adrenaline.

There are a few advantages to using tumescent solution for liposuction. Because the solution contains a local anesthetic, it might not be necessary for the patient to have general anesthetic. This is beneficial because one of the complications that can take place in this surgery is a problem with having general anesthesia.

Another advantage to using this technique is that there will likely be less bleeding with the surgery, and the healing will likely be faster as well. Tumescent liposuction is advantageous as well because it is less costly because it can be done in an office. The local anesthesia that is inserted prior to the fat removal will stay in the area at least partially for around 18 hours giving the patient more comfort. The aesthetic results have also been found to be better with this technique.

With so many great results of the tumescent technique it is hard to understand why any other technique might be used. It will likely depend on the view point of your doctor and what he is trained in. If you are interested in the tumescent method, be sure to ask your doctor about the pros and cons of the technique and see if he or she uses it. They may have particular reasons for using the technique they do use.

If your doctor gives various options as to the different types of liposuction, he will likely tell you what kind might be best for your situation. If you do not have a high pain tolerance then you may need additional sedation on top of the local anesthetic in the tumescent solution. This however, is still better than general anesthesia.

If you are confused by differing opinions you have read or with what you hear from your doctor, feel free to consult with other doctors to find out their opinion on techniques. Many times doctors have different opinions, so in the end you may have to go with the doctor that seems to have the most knowledge and best reasoning and facts behind what they say.

Hopefully whatever decision you make as to the technique that will be used to change your body will have the results that you are hoping for. The results will not be there overnight, but with patience, you will hopefully have the body you want.
