Canada pharmacy stresses not smoking cigar is one of the major ways on how to maintain healthy lungs; and,Live Longer with Canadian Drugs Articles a clean and non-polluted environment also plays a part. In the event that lung cancer has already rooted, it is when Gemzar comes in.

Generic Gemzar is a cancer medication that interferes with the growth and spread of cancer cells in the body. Gemzar is used to treat cancers of the pancreas, lung and breast.

Do not receive Gemzar if you are pregnant. It could harm the unborn baby. Use effective birth control, and tell your doctor if you become pregnant during treatment. It is not known whether gemcitabine passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. You should not breast-feed while you are using Gemzar.

Gemzar is injected into a vein through an IV. You will receive this injection in a clinic or hospital setting. Gemzar is usually given once a week for several weeks. The medicine must be given slowly, and the IV infusion can take up to 30 minutes to complete. Gemzar is usually given once a week for up to 7 weeks.

Gemzar can lower the blood cells that help your body fight infections. This can make it easier for you to bleed from an injury or get sick from being around others who are ill. To be sure your blood cells do not get too low, your blood will need to be tested on a regular basis. Your kidney and liver function may also need to be checked. Do not miss any scheduled visits to your doctor.

Do not receive a "live" vaccine while you are being treated with Gemzar, and avoid coming into contact with anyone who has recently received a live vaccine. There is a chance that the virus could be passed on to you.

If any Gemzar powder or mixed solution accidentally gets on your skin, wash the area thoroughly with soap and warm water. You should not use Gemzar if you are allergic to gemcitabine. To make sure you can safely buy Gemzar, tell your doctor if you have any of these other conditions: kidney disease; liver disease; or if you are receiving radiation treatment.

There may be other drugs that can interact with Gemzar. Tell your doctor about all medications you use. This includes prescription, over-the-counter, vitamin, and herbal products. Do not start a new medication without telling your doctor.

Smoking particularly of cigarettes, is by far the main contributor to lung cancer. Cigarette smoke contains over 60 known carcinogens, including radioisotopes from the radon decay sequence, nitrosamine, and benzopyrene. Additionally, nicotine appears to depress the immune response to malignant growths in exposed tissue.

Across the developed world, 91% of lung cancer deaths in men during the year 2000 were attributed to smoking (71% for women). In the United States, smoking is estimated to account for 87% of lung cancer cases (90% in men and 85% in women). Among male smokers, the lifetime risk of developing lung cancer is 17.2%; among female smokers, the risk is 11.6%. This risk is significantly lower in nonsmokers: 1.3% in men and 1.4% in women.

Women who smoke (former smokers and current smokers) and take hormone therapy are at a much higher risk of dying of lung cancer. In a study by Chlebowski et al. published in 2009, the women taking hormones were about 60% more likely to die of lung cancer than the women taking a placebo.

Not surprisingly, the risk was highest for current smokers, followed by past smokers, and lowest for those who have never smoked. Among the women who smoked (former or current smokers), 3.4% of those taking hormone therapy died of lung cancer compared to 2.3% for women taking the placebo.
