The barrier technique:

This technique outsmarts the resilient insects by creating a barrier that they can not get through around your bed.  What this method does is it stops the insects from being able to access the host, and therefore they cannot feed from that host.  This technique is important for the control of the pest as its primary result is to slow the reproduction of the critters.  Not to mention it can put your mind at ease when you are sleeping.  Barrier Technique Necessities.

Diatomaceous earth (DE):

Diatomaceous earth is a powder form of natural pesticide (made from shell fossils).  That can be powdered in area that bed bugs hid or travel to kill the creatures.  If they walk over the powder it sticks to their exoskeleton and dries the insect out until it dies.  This product for killing bed bugs is used by professionals, as a more long term solution than spray pesticides because if it stays dry it will be effective for a long time.

Bed bug sprays:

Bed bug sprays can be effective for killing bed bugs by directly spraying them.  Many of the sprays on the market are strong pesticides, but surprisingly are not all that good at killing bed bugs.  They have to be sprayed directly on the insects in many cases to kill them.  When initially inspecting a room for bed bugs, it is a good idea to have a spray ready in case you can see any.  In this process you can also use a hand held vacuum to suck up the pests.  Just be sure to dispose of the vacuum bag property in a sealed bag that will not allow the insects to escape.
