Most Effective Home Remedy for Constipation

If you're suffering from constipation and want to avoid seeing a doctor, a home remedy for constipation could work just as well. I will discuss a few simple, but very effective home remedies below that have been very successful with people facing constipation problems.

The first thing you want to do is start eating a lot more fiber in your diet. Fiber plays a key role as a home remedy for constipation because it helps to keep your body regular and cleans out your intestines and colon. Fiber also helps to soften your stools so they can pass through a lot easier. The best sources of fiber are from whole grains, raw nuts, and fruits and vegetables. You could also opt for a fiber supplement such as Fiber-all or Metamucil.

Next, you should increase the amount of water you're drinking every day. The recommended amount is 64 oz a day, but in this situation you should be drinking a lot more. When your body is dehydrated it turns your stools harder so that it's not as easy for them to pass through. Drinking a lot of water will keep you more hydrated and this will then keep your stools soft. You also want to avoid sodas and coffee because they dehydrate your body. Try drinking nothing but water every day and see if it helps.

Another home remedy for constipation is to avoid bad habits. What I'm talking about here is ignoring the call that you need to go to the bathroom. The longer you put it off, the worse it will become. Sure the feeling that you need to relieve yourself will go away after some time, but what happens is the stool becomes harder the longer it sits in your intestines and just like when you're dehydrated, it makes it harder to pass through later. As they say, "When you gotta go, you gotta go." Always listen to your body and relieve yourself when it tells you to and you will run into less problems down the road.

My final home remedy for constipation is to exercise more. As it is, most people don't get enough physical activity every day. When your digestive system is backed up, exercising is a great way to get it working properly again and studies have proven this. Try and get to the gym or workout at home for an hour at least 3 days a week. Even when not working out, you should still be doing all the little things such as taking the stairs and not waiting around for the closest parking spot. All the little things add up. Some people can even go for a walk and notice it eases their constipation.

Hopefully those steps above gave you some good ideas on a home remedy for constipation. If you want to learn more, I recommend you check out http://HelpStopConstipation.info
