Let me pre-amble this article with a statement I have made at least a couple of times in other health-related articles of recent vintage. We are all unique individuals,My Health Secrets May Work For You Articles each chemically different from one another, even though many of us are close enough to another that we can generally “group” ourselves into several “similar groupings”. Therefore, what works well for one person will probably work as well for everyone in that general grouping, will work but not as well for another general grouping, will do nothing good nor bad for another grouping, and will be bad for yet another grouping.

What follows works well for me; it may work exactly the same for you, maybe even better. And it may be that my program will only work for you if you make a minor modification; or for another person if you make major modifications.

I learned back in the ‘50’s and 60’s that every time I took a flu shot I got the flu – three times, in fact. Once immediately after the shot, again after 3 months, and a third time after 6 months. Every year, every flu shot, the same pattern repeated. In 1967 I quit taking flu shots and I have caught the flu since then about once every 5-6 years.

I have had varicose veins in my ankles since I was a teenager. I began taking massive doses of vitamin C – 2000 units a day – and vitamin E – 500 units a day, 2 or 3 times a week, about 1966 when I met a girl who said she took 1000 units of vitamin C daily, sometimes more, because her doctor prescribed it to help her varicose veins. Yes, I still have terrible varicose veins in my ankles but they don’t hurt and they apparently don’t impede my circulation.

In the 1960’s I learned that I have a bad reaction to tetracycline, the wonder drug antibiotic, about the third time it was prescribed, and to “geocyllin”, one of the penicillin family, but not to any of the other family members. It sort of felt like a huge black hole in the middle of my gut with a general feeling of extreme malaise. The Doctors decided this was an allergic reaction as it was repeated exactly several times.

And I learned in the late 1960’s, that I had a bad reaction to Vitamins A, B (all), D, in fact, every vitamin supplement except C and E. What they did was raise my blood pressure over a period of use, say a month. My blood pressure would shoot up from 120/70 to 165/95 and take 2-3 months off the vitamins to return to normal. The Doctors confirmed this as an allergic reaction.

During the early 1980’s I began taking amino acid supplements and quickly learned I am allergic to the amino acid supplements. I developed the same reaction to amino acid supplements as I did to tetracycline and geocyllin. But also during the 1980’s, due to a radical change of diet because I was goutish (I took medication to control gout from 1977 thru 1980, for 3 ½ years), I began taking zinc and selenium supplements, 50 mg each once a week, along with my vitamin C and E.

Beginning about the mid 1970s I began noticing that I never seemed to catch colds, in fact hadn’t had one in years. This pattern continued. And while the flu was going around and every one around me was getting sick I still only caught flu about once every 5 or more years. Others caught it every year.

In 1968 I played Santa at Christmas for a few close friends and their families. It was a fun thing to do and I sort of fell in the Santa mode around Christmas time many years.

By 1990 I was pretty set in my ways as far as vitamin supplements were concerned. I took 2000 units of vitamin C daily, 500 units of vitamin E weekly, and 50 mg of Zinc and Selenium weekly. I caught a horrible case of the flu in January 1991, as did my wife, and the cough lingered until what seemed like summer, at least into June. For Christmas 1995 I began playing Santa at a Mall. And I got sick, very sick. I was flat on my back in bed for a week and lost my voice totally for 3 full days. After that I just sort of “squeaked” for the rest of the Christmas season.

For Christmas of 1996 I determined to begin taking the zinc and selenium daily beginning about mid-November and on thru Christmas. The next time I got sick in any way was for Christmas 2001, when I was running a fever alternating with chills. But…..no one around me could tell I was sick, I didn’t have the sniffles or a red nose, nor did I lose my voice. To all outward appearances I looked and acted completely healthy. And while those around me catching this particular flu bug were sick for up to a week, mine lasted only two days and I was over it. Since the 1995 illness, 2001 is the only time I have been sick during the Christmas season, yet I meet thousands of children and adults and must come into contact with every possible contagious germ out there.

So, to summarize, during the year I take 2000 units of vitamin C daily, 500 units of vitamin E weekly and 50 mg of selenium and zinc weekly. Since 2001 I have added 50 mg of magnesium and potassium weekly. And, during the Christmas season, beginning in mid-November, I up this to 50 mg of zinc, selenium and magnesium daily, at least 5 days a week, and potassium at least twice weekly.

What works for me may work for you; but the idea is sound. You may have to determine your own particular health needs, vary this regimen to suit your body requirements. But when you do find the correct supplements you, too, will enjoy the good health I enjoy. And for most people, zinc and selenium are not only the building blocks of life but cancer fighting elements as well.

As for vitamins C and E, they are the ones your body cannot synthesize so you must give your body a new supply daily. The beauty of them is that what your body does not use is simply sluffed off in urine and the next day you need a new supply. Remember also that vitamins C and E are each very powerful anti-oxidants. For a very few people, however, it is possible to develop vitamin C or E poisoning – not serious in most cases and dropping your intake cures it quickly. This reaction is extremely rare, not more than 1 instance in 10,000 cases (I have personally only heard of it, and never known a case firsthand, yet I have shared the above with literally thousands of people already).

To go along with these supplements, you need to both live a healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise, and eat a healthy diet. Improved digestion is likely the very first step to better health and especially if you use or have used antibiotics you need to re-infuse your beneficial body flora and fauna – those enzymes absolutely essential to good digestion, proper nutritional absorption and good health. One of the best ways to do this is by using an organic greens supplement.

Just about any 100 percent organic greens supplement will do. However, they are rare. I have only found one that is truly 100 percent organic, and that is Bio 88+ (Plus). It is derived from both ancient and modern grains (such as wheat-grass) and from tropical and temperate zone fruits and vegetables. It is totally vegetarian based from 88 certified organic food sources plus it provides 15 proprietary probiotics. Email Loring directly for a .pdf brochure on Bio 88+ (Plus).

Find your own secrets to health and live a healthy lifestyle. What I do can be a starting place for your success, too.
