Do this many times a day until the swelling disappear. Protect your skin from direct contact with ice by using a towel to hold the ice pack. Keeping the affected area above heat level can quickly reduce the swelling. It takes 2 to 4 days to bring down the swelling to normal. Gout A painful inflammation of the big toe and foot caused by defects in uric acid metabolism resulting in deposits of the acid and its salts in the blood and joints. A quick remedy is to apply an ice pack on the affected area(s). This will reduce the pains immediately but just temporarily. One best natural remedy is to boil one tea spoon of pepper in one cup of vinegar and one cup of water, apply this mixture to the painful area and leave it for 2 to 3 hours. Drinking enough amount of water! It will cause the toxic uric acid to flow away and this will reduce its level. Also increase the intake of citrus fruits and leafy green vegetables which contain Vitamin C. They reduce inflammation produced in Gouts.
