Plastic Surgery Risks for Older People
This article explains what causes higher risks in plastic surgery for older individuals. The ages that are most prone are stated here.
The Older Generation
It is these people at this time that have the signs of aging. The ages forty-to-sixty are the ages that may have some difficulty accepting the signs of aging and may wish to stall and remain looking at they did in their twenties and thirties for a little bit longer. Of course, there are also those in their twenties who wish to change or perfect their appearance early on. Plastic surgery may seem the answer for the older people when it comes to maintaining their looks.
The problem with having operations for older individuals is that it is not only their looks that may have aged, but internally they may have aged as well. The body processes food and fluids daily to function, these are some of the factors that affect the overall health of a person. Diseases and other conditions often crop up when a person has a less than enviable lifestyle and not a care in the world about the results of this. Diabetes, heart disease and the effects of too much smoking and alcohol can undermine having operations because there are factors in these diseases that can be lethal to a person going under an operation.
Diabetes and conditions pertaining to the heart can affect the reactions that the body has to procedures, medications and stress. These can basically lead to a life or death situation if the doctor is not aware of any underlying condition. Even ordinary stress or anxiety can result to an elevated heart rate, which is not admissible for any major operation because complications can arise from it.
In some cases, the skin may have less elasticity and plastic surgery procedures may not be as successful as they are for younger people. Doctors will still operate on older individuals but the patients are told not to expect perfection. In some cases, where the individual may have already undergone procedures several times over the years, the surgeon may altogether decline to do another due to the unlikely feasibility of success. In spite of being touted as one of the factors to the fountain of youth, plastic surgery also has its limits.
