Painful,Please Help! I Need A Hemorrhoids Treatment Articles itchy, swollen, and embarrassing, that is how many people describe problem hemorrhoids. People do not like to be seen pacing up and down the medicine isle, looking over hemorrhoids treatments. Over fifty percent of people over the age of thirty will develop problems with hemorrhoids.

What are Hemorrhoids?

A hemorrhoid is type of varicose vein. When the veins around the rectum and anus become swollen, several problems can arise. If the swelling is internal, then it normally isn't as painful, but can be uncomfortable, unsightly, and bleed during bowl movements. Veins that swell externally are more painful and can feel like a hard lump. They are very sensitive and can bleed during bowel movements. Both types may cause itching and discomfort.

Are Hemorrhoids Serious?

They can be. While the majority of cases are mild, there are people that suffer from severe hemorrhoids. People that do not treat the starting phases of mild hemorrhoids  could develop serious problems that could have far more serious health consequences.

Mild Hemorrhoids Treatment

Mild hemorrhoids are more of an inconvenience, but can develop into something much more painful. There are several treatment options open to people. Most treatments can be found in any grocer or pharmacy. There are creams, liquids, and other ointments. Most of these treatments include witch hazel, or other astringents that reduce swelling and comfort the itching and burning. Within days or a couple of weeks, sufferers of mild hemorrhoids will start to get relief.

Severe Hemorrhoids Treatment

If hemorrhoids are severe enough, a doctor should be sought. Sever hemorrhoids may be more than just painful; they can present a true health risk and should be dealt with by a professional. Clot removal is a process where clotted external hemorrhoids are removed through a small incision. This is done in a doctor’s office with a local anesthetic. Ligation is a process that uses a small rubber band is placed around the hemorrhoid. It effectively cuts off the blood supply and the tissue discharges in a few days and heals fully within a couple of weeks. Injection therapy is also an option. This procedure is used on smaller, internal hemorrhoids. Hardening agents are injected into the area and the circulation loss, that it causes, makes the hemorrhoid shrivel. Of all the treatments, a hemorrhoidectomy is the one we most often think of. This is where the hemorrhoid is removed under a local anesthesia. This may require hospitalization.
