In some cases, you can also start taking it up to the fifth day of your cycle but you may need to use barrier protection for a few days if you do so. It is better if you discuss with your doctor whether you should use additional contraception for the next two days. This mini pill prevents pregnancy in three ways. Firstly, it thickens the natural mucus of the cervix, making it difficult for sperm to reach an egg. The artificial hormone also modifies the womb lining (endometrium) in such a way that an egg would not be successful in implanting itself on the womb lining. The Norgeston Mini Pill may also prevent the process of ovulation, however, this will not be the case for every woman who takes the mini-pill

There are certain medications which should not be taken during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. You should always consult your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant before the use of this medication. You should avoid this medication completely during pregnancy. However, if you miss a few pills during the course and you do get pregnant then there is no indication to prove that the unborn baby would be harmed.
